Neither of them have any real short term health effects, one joint isn't going to kill you and neither is a cigarette.
But both have fairly awful long term health effects, so really you get to choose which ones you want. You want to smoke marijuana and have a complete lack of motivation, a tendency towards Alzheimer's disease and virtually no short term memory, a bunch of weight gain (and breast development in men) or do you to smoke cigarettes and get poor circulation, serious lung complications and smokers teeth?
